Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons dandelion root tea heaping teaspoons
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 1 cup milk or milk alternative

Instructions

  • Place fresh water into a kettle on the stove and bring to a boil.
  • Put two heaping teaspoons of dandelion root tea into a tea steeper and place into a mug.
  • Pour ½ cup boiling water over the tea until the tea is entirely covered.
  • Place a lid on the tea cup and brew for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • While tea is steeping, put about 1 cup of milk into a saucepan.
  • Place it on the stovetop and bring it to a simmer until you see bubbles around the edges. This will help to make a nice foam. Homesteading Hack: Use a hand-held mixer, immersion blender, regular blender, or a fork (just whisk it well) to blend the milk in the saucepan to create a foam consistency.
  • Once the tea is done steeping, remove the tea and pour the heated milk into the mug.

Notes

  • Roasted dandelion root tea works best, but you can also use unroasted tea if that's all you can find.
  • You can use a hand-held mixer, immersion blender, regular blender, or fork (just whisk it well in the saucepan) to create some foam for your latte.
  • Combining almond and coconut milk makes the best foam.
  • You can use honey or sweetener of choice to add desired sweetness.
