With the events of 2020 a few years behind us, we’ve been noticing a subtle shift away from homesteading and the skill sets associated with it. Please don’t grow weary of your efforts and the work you’re putting into your homestead! It will pay off in dividends.
Most importantly, now is not the time to let your food supplies drop! Don’t get out of practice with growing a garden and preserving food. I understand that homesteading is tiring and can be a lot of work. That’s why Josh and I strive to improve our systems year over year to make homesteading easier instead of harder.
We have a blog post and Pantry Chat episode all about when homesteading feels urgent. This would be a great podcast to go back and listen to, as it was recorded during the height of the pandemic. Also, check out this video on how to stay positive and prepared during uncertain times.
We are not fear-mongers, and we never recommend starting a homestead driven by fear. However, uncertain times can be a catalyst for layering on skills that will help us be more self-sufficient and resilient when the time comes.
We have the feeling that in the next few years, we’ll all be glad we’ve built up the skills to sustain what’s coming.
