How to Homestead Anywhere Crash Course

On this week’s Pantry Chat, I’m solo in the Harvest Kitchen as Josh just had his wisdom teeth removed. Join me for some chit chat and hear all about my upcoming How to Homestead Anywhere Crash Course.

Defining Homesteading

For us, homesteading is primarily a mindset. Josh and I like to define it as more than a set of skills or projects. It’s a mindset that prioritizes producing instead of consuming.

Instead of seeing something you need, you stop before you buy and consider whether or not you can make or produce that item yourself. This opens up the question of “What can I do right where I am?”

The trap is that, for some, this leads to a mindset of, if we can’t do it all, then what’s the point? That’s a common problem we hear about all the time. In fact, it’s also a topic we’ve covered many times before. If you’re just getting started and want to learn more, I encourage you to check out these podcasts:

Can You Homestead From Anywhere?

Now that you know how we define homesteading, to answer the question, “Can you homestead from anywhere?” Our answer is a resounding yes!

Whether you’re living on 20 acres in the country, in a rural neighborhood with 1/4 acre, or living in a highrise apartment in the city, we truly believe you can homestead from anywhere. In fact, when Josh and I first started homesteading, we lived in a second-floor apartment with a tiny balcony. You can listen to more of our story of going from an apartment to 40 acres here.

From January 6-10 I’m hosting a FREE live event all about getting started with homesteading. So, if you’re a new homesteader or struggling with the idea of homesteading in a small space, this crash course is going to give you a road map for moving forward.

If you’re an advanced homesteader, it gets difficult to fit all the skills you’ve learned into your lifestyle so you don’t get overwhelmed and experience burnout. We’ll be covering how to do this in the crash course, too!
